Project Manager, MEP Engineering Firm
Location: Basking Ridge, NJ
Compensation: $110K - $135K, depending on experience
In-Office Policy: Hybrid
My client is a dynamic MEP and Structural engineering design and consulting firm specializing in ultra-high-end residential projects in the New York City region, with recent growth along the East Coast from New England to Florida. Collaborating with top-tier architects and design teams, the team delivers custom home designs that meet demanding performance, aesthetic, and acoustic standards.

What You’ll Do
The team is looking for a proactive and highly organized Project Manager to take ownership of project organization and execution across their growing portfolio. This is a new position for the firm, and the right candidate will not only manage projects but also help define how project management operates - building the systems, tools, and rhythms that will guide us forward.
You’ll learn their current engineering workflow, implement structure where needed, and manage active projects from kickoff to completion. Over time, you’ll take a leading role in proposal development, resource planning, and overall project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Learn and document the current engineering processes and workflows
Develop internal project management systems and procedures with clear milestones and approval gates
Establish and maintain project timelines tailored to each engagement
Coordinate kickoff meetings and collaborate with design teams to align on schedules, deliverables, and responsibilities
Track progress across internal teams and ensure alignment with external partners and consultants
Manage internal workflow and resource allocation
Hold teams accountable to deadlines and deliverables, both internally and externally
Support proposal preparation and, in time, lead proposal development with principals and engineers
Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve communication, and reduce bottlenecks
Qualifications
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a project management or coordination role within design, engineering, or construction
Skills & Competencies
Fast learner with strong project management experience
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Proficiency in modern office software; experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, ClickUp, or similar) preferred
Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information
